Inspired by barrister friends from Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. I now act exclusively as an independent arbitrator and advocate through Joseph M. Matthews, P.A., accepting appointments and serving on panels administered by major arbitration forums around the world and serving also on ad hoc panels.

I take on some pro bono advocacy projects and work as co-counsel with some younger advocates and with former colleagues on occasion.

I am writing and publishing more, including law journal articles co-authored with talented lawyers and friends. Effective in 2026, I provide mediation services with my son through Matthews Mediation Chambers.
