Inspired by barrister friends from Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K., on May 15, 2017 I became an independent practitioner for the first time in my 40-year professional career. I plan to teach, lecture and write a bit more and I look forward to continuing appointments as arbitrator and mediator, serving on panels administered by major arbitration forums around the world and serving also on ad hoc panels.
I also expect to take on some pro bono advocacy projects and I will work as co-counsel with some younger advocates and with former colleagues on occasion.

I have conducted pre-selection interviews as advocate and neutral, consistent with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Good Practice Guidelines on the Interviewing of Prospective Arbitrators.
